Brownie Petit Fours

Brownies are on practically everyone's list to make for the holidays whether it comes from a box or is made from scratch. They're easy to throw together in a few minutes and then you have a chewy chocolatey treat. Just a few extra steps and you can cover them in chocolate and have a new treat. I'm calling them Brownie Petit Fours because they're bite sized and covered in glaze. Chocolate makes everything better :)

This is a basic brownie recipe that can have nuts or other flavorings easily added to it. You could mix in about 1/4 cup of sliced almonds or chopped pecans and it would be wonderful. A cherry extract or Kirshwasser in place of the vanilla would add some nice flavor. If you added in chopped cherries (such as dried) and topped it with whipped cream you could call them Black Forest Petit Fours. The variations are endless! Happy Baking! This recipe has been submitted to the Blog Hop over at Meal Planning Magic for the 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hop.

Brownie Petit Fours

Makes about 15 bite size brownies
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 whole egg
- ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup cocoa
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips

- 6 ounces chocolate chips
- ⅓-½ cup heavy cream, depending on the consistency you want

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Mix together butter, sugars, and vanilla on medium speed in mixing bowl until lighter in color and slightly fluffy.
3. Add egg, mix until well combined.
4. Sift together flour, cocoa, and salt. Add into butter mixture, stir until mixed.
5. Stir in mini chocolate chips.
6. Pour into a greased 7”x11” baking dish or scoop evenly into a pan with 1 ½”x1 ½” greased cavities. (Like this one, this is what I used)
7. Bake 18-24 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out almost clean, remove from oven, cool on metal rack in pan.
8. Once brownies are cool remove them from pan and place them on a cooling rack with parchment under rack to catch chocolate drippings so it can be reused if necessary.
9. Begin making chocolate glaze.
10. Place chocolate chips in a bowl.
11. Heat heavy cream until slightly simmering but do not let it boil. Pour heavy cream over chocolate chips in bowl.
12. Let sit 2-3 minutes, stir until completely blended. Pour chocolate glaze over brownies on cooling rack and spread evenly with knife.
